provide the support your teen needs
Adolescent & Young Adult Therapy
You’re fearful & struggling to communicate with your teen.
You feel helpless…
As a therapist, I focus on supporting adolescents and young adults (ages 12-25) during a crucial stage of their lives. I delve deep into the underlying causes of issues like anxiety, depression, or trauma, collaborating with both the individual and their family to effect lasting change. My approach combines psychodynamic and DBT therapies, customized to each person's needs. By fostering a safe, supportive environment, I empower young people to develop skills and resilience to overcome obstacles, building a solid foundation for their future.
Recognizing that challenges may stem from family or social dynamics, I extend my therapy approach to support the entire family system. Through addressing systemic issues and providing effective parenting strategies, we cultivate a healthier environment for growth and well-being.
Once we've identified the root causes of struggles, we work together to create positive, sustainable change. I prioritize the individual's autonomy, agency, and faith, empowering them to make informed decisions and cultivate independence. By helping teens comprehend their emotions, develop coping mechanisms, and build resilience, I equip them with tools for lifelong success.
Sound like your adolescent/young adult?
Your teen has isolated themself and are exhibiting persistent feelings of unhappiness, sadness, anger or stress.
When attempting to communicate with your teenager, do they often respond with anger or frustration?
Has there been a shift in their social circle, accompanied by the emergence of concerning behaviors?
Has your child shown a decrease in their academic achievements? Have they lost interest in activities that once brought them joy?
Here’s what we’ll do together
In a safe & supportive environment, your child and I will explore emotions and strategies for navigating life's challenges.
In collaboration with parents and their adolescent or young adult children, I aim to assess their overall functioning, encompassing mood, personality, intellectual, social, and behavioral needs. This comprehensive evaluation is essential for providing successful treatment tailored to their unique challenges.
Drawing upon a combination of psychodynamic and DBT-focused therapy, I work with adolescents and young adults to uncover the root causes of their difficulties. By identifying the underlying factors contributing to their symptoms, we can harness their strengths and develop effective strategies for processing and treating any remaining problematic behaviors. I firmly believe that addressing the core issues enables lasting positive change, empowering individuals to thrive in their developmental journey.
Additionally, I offer support to parents, equipping them with effective parenting strategies and tools. Through open communication and collaboration, we can foster a supportive environment that nurtures the health and growth of the adolescent or young adult. Collateral sessions with other family members are often incorporated to provide holistic support and deepen my understanding of the adolescent's unique circumstances.
With caring support, insightful guidance, and a sensitive approach, I strive to create a safe and nurturing environment where adolescents and young adults can flourish, successfully navigating their developmental process towards a brighter future.
